2009 / 2010 Union Gas Workers’ Council Academic Bursary Award

Beginning in 2009 the Union Gas Workers’ Council will offer an academic bursary in the amount of $500. This bursary is available to members in good standing of the Union Gas South bargaining unit or a child of a member in good standing.

Candidates must complete a bursary application form and complete an essay (1000 words) entitled, “The union, my family and my community”. Essays will be judged to determine winner of the academic bursary.

  • For 2009, applications will be made available in September 2009.
  • Submissions must include, a bursary application, the applicant’s essay, applicant’s proof of admission for the coming year at a post secondary institution (i.e. copy of acceptance letter); and a picture of the applicant. Successful applicant’s picture will appear on the Union Gas Workers’ Council website.

  • Deadlines for submission is December 1st, 2009.
  • Successful applicants name will be announced at the January 2010 Gas Council meetings.
